The Hofkapelle Stuttgart, was founded in 2006 by Frieder Bernius in addition to the Barockorchester Stuttgart, is dedicated to performance of the repertoire of 19th Century on historical instruments. A focal point is the excavation of musicological resources, especially from the southwest of Germany (Kalliwoda, Knecht, Holzbauer).
The Hofkapelle Stuttgart and Barockorchester Stuttgart are regularly invited to international festivals (Rome, Salzburg, Göttingen, Dresden). Their CD-productions have won numerous awards: the "Missa Dei Patris" by Jan Dismas Zelenka was nominated for the "Cannes Classical Award," the incidental music for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn was awared by Rondo for excellence and with the "Stern des Monats" in the magazine Fono Forum. The Requiem by W.A. Mozart was awarded the "Diapason d'or de l'année 2003", Johann Gottlieb Naumann's opera Aci e Galatea has been celebrated in the magazine Opernwelt as the opera recording of the year, J.S. Bach's Oster-Oratorium (BWV 249) recevied the highly regarded "Preises der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (Prize of the German Record Critics). The recording of J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) was the "editors choice" of the magazine Gramophone. |
