Beate Spaltner (Soprano)

Born: Germany

The German sopranos Regina Kabis, Sibylle Schaible and Beate Spaltner, were educated at the universities of Freiburg and Basel. They have been established for many years in the international concert scene, especially in the field of early music. They are known both as soloists and as members of known ensembles such as the Orlando di Lasso Ensemble and the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor singing under renowned conductors at numerous festivals and concert halls in Europe, the USA and South America.

In order to perform the extraordinary repertoire for three equal voices, they founded together a vocal ensemble themselves under the name "Voix Douces". Their example was the vocal ensemble, founded in 1580 "Concerto delle dame di Ferrara," which appeared at the court of Ferrara. The singers Livia d'Arco, Laura Peperara and Anna Guarini enjoyed supreme glory until about 1600. Their angelic voices and their virtuosity spread a mystical aura also at other courts as in Naples, Florence and Rome from violent emulation. The resulting repertoire after extensive search of ensemble Voix Douces consists of "pearls" and "gems" of sacred composition of Italian, French and German composers of the 16th and 17th centuries. Virtuosity and soulfulness characterize these early Baroque compositions rarely performed, which are poignant lyrics basis.
