The Ametican mezzo-soprano, Jenifer L. Smith, studies voice with Dr. Lorie Gratis and received her musical education from Westminster Choir College and Temple University.
Jenifer L. Smith captivates audiences with her pure "lovely" voice (Phiadelphia Inquirer). She has performed as a soloist with such groups as the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Bach Festival of Philadelphia (since October 2009), Choral Arts Philadelphia, and The Montgomery County Choral Society. She has appeared as soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass and Paukenmesse, and Dietrich Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri, as well as in dozens of J.S. Bach's cantatas.
An extensive chamber singer, Jenifer L. Smith has performed with Antioch Chamber Ensemble, The Crossing, and the Vox Renaissance Consort, and is a founding member of both the Buxtehude Consort and The Laughing Bird. Her discography includes "The Passing of the Year" with the Antioch Chamber Ensemble and "It Is Time" with The Crossing. She is currently a member of the all professional choir at St Clement's Church in Philadelphia, under the direction of Peter Richard Conte. |
