The French mezzo-soprano, Monique Simon, studied singing in Paris. In 1994 she became the “Juventus prize” of the Europa-Rates und des Instituts C.-N. Ledoux.
Monique Simon made her debut in 1996 as a 3rd Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra Lyon. As coloratura mezzo-soprano her preference are George Frideric Handel, Mozart and Rossini, in addition to an extensive repertoire of other composers. Since 1998 she is ensemble member of the Deutschen Oper am Rhein, where she could have been heard as Maddalena (Rigoletto), Gertrud (Hänsel und Gretel), Wellgunde (Rheingold), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) as well as in Die Zauberflöte, Tiefland and The Gondoliers. |
