The German baritone, Frank Schiller, belonged from 10 to 18 years of age to the Dresdner Kreuzchor, and then studied at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden.
After three years at the Opera Studio, the Semper-Oper in Dresden took Frank Schiller to their soloist ensemble. Papageno in Zauberflöte was one of his prime roles. In 1994 he was at the Erfurt Theater as a lyric baritone. He first attracted attention as Silvio in Der Bajazzo and the baritone part of Carmina Burana at the first Erfurt's Domstufen-Festspielen. Very soon, he appeared in big roles such as Herr Fluth in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Wildschütz-Graf, Wolfram von Eschenbach in Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Figaro in Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun, Dr. Falke in Johann Strauss' Fledermaus and the title role in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
The Carmina Burana led Frank Schiller to the Dresden Music Festival. At the opera there, he was Kilian in Weber's Freischütz, Bielefeld saw him as Tungsten and as Papageno, and at the Eutiner Sommerspielen he appeared in Turandot.
Frank Schiller's special love is Lieder and concert singing. His extensive concert repertoire has led him to appearances with major orchestras and choirs all over Europe. |
