The American mezzo-soprano and voices teacher, Rachel Malone Sarracco, studied music in college and sang professionally before moving to Washington D.C., where she first heard about the US Navy Sea Chanters Chorus. She met another female singer who encouraged her to audition, but when she found out she had to go through boot camp and enlist in the Navy, she was immediately apprehensive. She was a civilian when she auditioned, went through boot camp, and in 2003 became Musician First Class and also serves as the Sea Chanters tour manager. She has also sung with the Washington Bach Consort (Director: J. Reilly Lewis), and the Bach Sinfonia (Director: Daniel E. Abraham). She is married to Pasquale Sarracco and lives now in Queenstown, Maryland. |
