The American baritone, Ethan Sagin, studied at Allegany High Cumberland, Maryland (2009). He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, magna cum laude, from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota (2009-2013); and his Master of Music degre in Opera Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts (2013-2015). Currently, he is GPD Candidate in Opera Performance at Longy School of Music.
Ethan Sagin has garnered attention within the Boston area for his “affectionate” singing and “truly dashing” presence onstage. This past season, he made role debuts as Joseph Lilyburn in a rare concert production of Irving Berlin’s 1914 musical Watch Your Step with American Classics, the title character of Robert Sirota’s The Tailor of Gloucester and Don Marco in The Saint of Bleecker Street with Longy Opera Studio. As a returning Apprentice Artist to the Nahant Music Festival this summer, he created the role of Prince Desiré in the world premiere of Francine Trester’s opera Sleeping Beauty (2014). An accomplished concert soloist, he has appeared with the Philharmonic Society of Arlington, Boston Bach Birthday Festival, Longy Conservatory Orchestra and Chorale, Calliope, Masterworks Chorale Summer Sing, Emmanuel Music Chamber Orchestra, and members of the Boston Camerata.
Upcoming performances include several role debuts in the inaugural performance of Boston-based company Opera Espresso, St. John the Apostle in J.S. Bach's Easter Oratorio (BWV 249) with the Boston Bach Birthday Festival, and several J.S. Bach's cantatas with the First Lutheran Church of Boston where Ethan Sagin serves as a choral fellow. He currently lives in Northfield, Minnesota. |
