The American mezzo-soprano and music pedagogue, Rebecca Straney Russell, received the Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisville, the Master of Church Music in vocal performance from Southern Seminary, and the Doctor of Music from Indiana University in vocal performance with minors in music education and music history.
Rebecca Russell has performed in operas, for orchestras, and in Choral organizations all over the southeastern USA and in Spain and Russia.
Rebecca Russell has taught voice and related subjects at Centre College, the University of Kentucky, Indiana University, and Southern Seminary. She has served as vocal instructor for the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts and was most recently the Choral teacher at Seneca High School in Louisville, Kentucky. She currently teaches a voice and piano at the Arts Center of Oldham Country Schools.
Rebecca Russell has served in many Louisville churches as choir director, hand bell director, vocal soloist and pianist, and as director of children's choirs and children's summer musicals. She is currently the alto soloist/section leader at Highland Presbyterian Church.
