The American tenor, Ryan Rogers, studied piano, voice and percussionsa at Judon High School in Pearland, Texas (2009-2013). Since 2013, he is a senior in the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston (UH), and is currently pursuing a double major in Piano Performance and Choral Music Education (expected graduation in 2018). He sings with several performing ensembles, including the San Antonio Chamber Choir (Director: Scott MacPherson; since October 2012), Bach Society Houston (Director: Rick Erickson), and Chorus Angelorum. At Moores, he is in the piano studio of Dr. Tali Morgulis, and studied voice with Zachery Averyt. He has also been active as a collaborative pianist, performing for the 2013 Cactus Pear Music Festival Young Artist Program and the 2015 Saarburg International Chamber Music Festival in Saarburg, Germany. At UH, he sings with the award-winning Moores School Concert Chorale under Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, serving as Tenor Section Leader for 2015, including for the ensemble’s world championship at the 2015 Grand Prix of Nations in Magdeburg, Germany. He also serves as Director of Floreat, Choral Area Chair for the MSM’s National Association for Music Education Executive Board, and sings in two other student-directed a cappella ensembles at Moores, Men of Moores and Ardore.
In his free time, Ryan Rogers enjoys performing with his band, Othello (since May 2012), arranging, and recording his own compositions. He currently lives in Houston, Texas. |
