The Finnish baritone, Elja Puukko, studied church music at the Sibelius Academy from 1985, and in the Academyís performing arts program from 1992 to 1997. He also attended master-classes with Tom Krause, and Jorma Hynninen and spent 1995-1996 studying in Berlin.
At his debut concert at the Sibelius Academy, Elja Puukko sang Schubert’s Winterreise. In addition to making numerous discs and appearing in Lieder recitals and concerts both in Finland and abroad, he has recorded for radio and TV. He has also studied orchestral conducting and regularly appears with Baroque ensembles in particular. Today he is employed as a church musician in Espoo, Finland. |
