The Austrian tenor and singing teacher, Norbert Prasser, comes from Upper Austria, where during his time at the high-school Kollegium Petrinum in Linz, he appeared as a boy soloist, and received his first singing
lessons and organ lessons at the Brucknerkonservatorium in Linz. After briefly studying at the Theologischen Hochschule of Linz in 1971, he moved to the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg. Here he completed the studies of Lied and Oratorio, singing pedagogy and music education. He received further training with Liselotte Egger and later with Karlheinz Jarius in Frankfurt.
Since 1975, he has taught singing in the Singing Department at the Universität Mozarteum. As a representative of the middle academy for many years he was a member of the boards and played a prominent role in higher education policy. In 2000 he was appointed as university professor. At the Universität Mozarteum in addition to singing, he taught the subjects of singing education, and teaching practice.
Parallel to teaching was his artistic career as a concert singer and a member of numerous vocal ensembles. In solo singing his continuing focus is in the field of oratorio, particularly in Germany and Switzerland. |
