The Orquestra de Câmara de Ponta Delgada is a known quality group, directed by Grigori Spektor, was created in 2002, by teachers from the Conservatório Regional de Ponta Delgada. The activity of the then called Orquestra de Câmara do Conservatório Regional de Ponta Delgada was characterized by a pedagogical aspect and by the exploration of chamber music for string instruments. In this context, they held several concerts in schools and with the collaboration of several entities and institutions, integrating, whenever possible, students from the Conservatório. In 2003, it adopted the current name - Orquestra de Câmara de Ponta Delgada -, however, maintaining the same principles that were at its origin.
Since then, always conducted by Grigori Spektor, the Orquestra de Câmara de Ponta Delgada has performed mainly on the island of São Miguel, with highlights being the concerts in the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho and performances in all parishes of Ponta Delgada, which results from the protocol established with the largest autarchy in the Azores. |
