The German boy soprano, Kai Podack, joined the Aurelius Sängerknaben Calw at 6; at age 9 he already sang one of the 3 boys in Mozart's Zauberflöte, at the Alte Oper in Nice. It was followed by numerous other solo roles, and CD-productions and youth music federal prizes. After his voice broke at age 15, he decided against the traditional way to study jazz and pop music at the Musikhochschule of Mannheim with Reinette van Zjetfeld Lustig and Professor Ann Malcolm. Meanwhile in the 6th Semester, he plays with his Ensemble Kai's Jazz Crew, the Space Combo (Funk), various cover bands, and next he will play partly with the Bundes Jugend Jazz Orchester (Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra). |
