The Austrian soprano, Nina Maria Plangg, first completed her studies of English at the University of Vienna before turning to study voice at the Vienna Conservatory and at the Bruckner Private University in Linz with Andreas Lebeda, where she graduated with honours. To supplement her training, she also took master-classes with Kurt Widmer and worked with Carol Byers and Birgit Steinberger.
Since then Nina Maria Plangg has appeared in many opera and operetta productions in Austria and abroad in roles such as Anne Frank in Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Annamirl in Der fidele Bauer (at the Dresden State Operetta) and Abel’s Lamb in Cain and Abel (a production by the Vienna Musikwerkstatt). She was also a soloist in Die Köpfe der Einöde at the Gmunden Festwochen. Her repertoire also includes the roles of Pamina (Zauberflöte), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Anne (The Rake’s Progress), Stasi (Die Csardasfürstin), Arsena (The Gypsy Baron), Dalinda (Ariodante) and Almirena (Rinaldo).
Nina Maria Plangg is in demand as a performer of sacred music; she has sung the soprano solo part in Mozart’s Requiem under Manfred Honeck several times, for example.
No stranger to contemporary music, her future projects include the principal role in the world premiere of a work by Akos Banlakay in 2008 and, in 2009, the principal role in an opera by Gunther Waldeck. |
