The Italian conductor, Pierangelo Pelucchi, graduated in piano, choral music and choir directing, composition, orchestra conducting, singing teaching, art song, instruments for ensemble and Harpsichord at the conservatories of Verona, Bologna and Bari. For conduting of orchestra has also completed his academic studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Ferdinand Leitner and Gary Bertini and at the Musikhochschule in Vienna under the guidance of Karl Österreicher.
Pierangelo Pelucchi's conducting work has been broadcasted by the Bayerische Rundfunk, Radio Televisione della Svizzera Italiana, ORF, Radio Television of State of Belarus, Radio Television Yugoslava, Radio Television of State of South Korea, Radio Television of State of Russia, Deutsche Rundfunk, RAI , Centro Televisivo Vaticano, Radio Vaticana e dalla Filodiffusione.
In parallel to Pierangelo Pelucchi's conducting (both in choral-symphonic repertoire, and in the opera) comes his musicological work, with seminars and conferences, publication of essays and especially revisions of unpublished music. Pierangelo Pelucchi was reponsible for the revision of the critical editions of unpublished songs by Pietro Antonio Locatelli (Doblinger Verlag of Vienna-Monaco), by Gaetano Donizetti (National Edition of the Works of G. Donizetti) and especially John Simone Mayr (Foundation Donizetti in Bergamo) which is now considered the most experienced in the international arena. He edited the edition of the monumental biography of John Simon Mayr written by Girolamo Calvi between 1846 and 1848 (Fondazione Donizetti, Bergamo, July 2000).
Pierangelo Pelucchi has conducted the modern-times premieres of several monumental works by J.S. Mayr and G. Donizetti, taking care also of revising the editions and recordings (Niccolò Zingarelli: Le tre ore dell’agonia di N.S.G.C.; Giovanni Simone Mayr: il Passio pel Venerdì Santo, la Missa Solemnis in Do maggiore for soloists, choir & orchestra; the oratorio Samuele, Sisara and S. Luigi Gonzaga, the Grande Messa di Requiem in Sol minore, Sinfonie e Cantate buffe for bass, the farce Il caretto del venditor d’acet). He has recorded for the labels Agorà, Arkadia, Bongiovanni and Nuova Era. He has conducted the modern-times premieres of numerous operas, oratorios, sacred works for solists, choir and orchestra (heroic, buffa, sentimental and celebratory) and instrumental music, including the composers P.A. Locatelli, G. Ferlendis, N. Piccinni, G. Paisiello, D. Cimarosa, N. Zingarelli, G. S. Mayr, G. Donizetti.
Since 1990, Pierangelo Pelucchi is acting as representative for Italy in the jury of international music competitions in Italy and other European countries. In 1997, during celebrations marking the bicentenary of Gaetano Donizetti, the autonomous government of Andalusia has commissioned a production of the opera Alahor in Granata by G. Donizetti's, which was performed in 1998 for the first time in modern times at the Teatro La Maestranza in Seville and at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo.
In April 2002 Pierangelo Pelucchi was appointed Vice-President of the European Federation of Choirs and was responsible for the choirs operating in Latin and Greek in Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Malta) under the aegis of European Parliament. At the Opera Theater of of St Petersburg he directed the "modern-times premiere" the opera by Donizetti Pietro il Grande, Kzar delle Russie, and Il falegname di Livonia (1819), which opened the celebrations of the 300th anniversary of Trustees of St. Petersburg (May 2003). On November 22, 2003, the centenary of the Motu proprio of Pius X, "Sala Nervi" the Vatican and the presence of S. Father, he directed the Passione secondo Marco by Lorenzo Perosi, the concert was broadcast by Vatican Television Center and SAT 2000. In autumn 2005 he inaugurated the opera season at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, conducting Don Giovanni Tenorio namely Il convitato di pietra (1787) by Giuseppe Gazzaniga, with DVD recording.
Pierangelo Pelucchi holds the chair of complementary Harmony at the Conservatorio “Jacopo Tomadini” in Udine and the European project Socrates-Erasmus, and is reponsible for 'Directorate and the interpretation of Italian 18th and early 19th century opera' at the Conservatory of Seville and the Musikhochschule in Mannheim. At the Accademico dell’Ateneo di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Bergamo, he holds the role of Director of the Donizetti Foundation in Bergamo and the Internationale Mayr’s Gesellschaft di Ingolstadt (Germany), is a collaborator of Donizetti Society in London and Donizetti Verein in Vienna. |
