Robyn Parton (Soprano)

Born: England

The English soprano, Robyn Allegra Parton, studied with generous support at the Royal College of Music, English National Opera's Opera Works and at the Wales International Academy of Voice, following a degree in music at Worcester College, Oxford. Finalist in the 2012 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and semifinalist in Berlin's 2013 Das Lied competition, she is a Britten Pears Young Artist and the recipient of Garsington Opera's Helen Clarke Award, the Nachwuchspreis at Salzburg's Oper Im Berg Festival, Les Azuriales Festival's Most Promising Young Singer Prize, the Philip and Dorothy Green Young Concert Artist Award for Making Music, the Oxford Lieder Festival Prize, a Goldman Award from the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Joaninha Trust Award for which she was nominated by mentor Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

Operatic roles include Euridice/La Musica (cover) and Ensemble Role in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (Bayerische Staatsoper, Ivor Bolton), Mercedes in Georges Bizet's Carmen (Opera Comique de Paris/Grand Theatre de Luxembourg, Evelino Pido), Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (cover, Garsington Opera, John Andrews; Co-Opera Co, 'the character who held the stage' Gramophone, 'irresistible' Opera Magazine), Guadalena in Offenbach's La Perichole (cover, Garsington Opera, David Parry), Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (cover, Raymond Gubbay), Chloé in Rameau's Anacreon (cover, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Jonathan Williams), Belinda in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (Britten Pears, Christian Curnyn), Adele (cover, Opera Danube) and Semele, Susanna, Gretel and Lauretta as a student. Future performances include cover Oscar in G. Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera for Iford Young Artists and a showcase of Edmund Finnis' Seven Opera Spaces for English National Opera. Robyn Parton will make her debut for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden this year as Peg in the world premiere of The Virtues of Things by Matt Rogers, followed by Barbarina in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and cover Amour in Gluck's Orphee.

As a concert artist Robyn Parton has performed with ensembles including the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English Baroque Soloists, Oxford Philomusica, Luxembourg Philharmonie and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra. She has recently recorded Caecilia in Charpentier's Caecilia Virgo et Martyr for Novum, has performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall, and gives regular recitals at festivals including the London Handel Festival, RAH Coffee Concerts, Oxford Lieder, Lammermuir and St Martin-in-the-Fields. She is also a member of Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner).

Residing in Ealing, Robyn Parton is also a keen pianist, dancer and footballer.
