The Chinese-American conductor and pianist, Lauren Adja Park (Lauren Tian Machado), received her training primarily in Southern California, Ohio and Michigan. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from California State University in Fullerton (Class of 2009); her her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance/New Music from Bowling Green State University (Class of 2014); and her Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2017). She is now Graduate Teaching Assistant and Student Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestra Conducting at The University of Utah (since August 2019; expected graduation: 2024). Her most recent teachers include Arthur Greene, Thomas Rosenkranz, Logan Skelton and Eduardo Delgado.
Lauren Adja Park enjoys an eclectic career of many musical passions. She performs as a soloist and collaboratively at the piano, as well as conducting choral and orchestral repertoire. She is a member of Duo Sarteano (since July 2014), a piano duo dedicated to the repertoire of French, Spanish and South American composers. A recipient of numerous keyboard awards and scholarships, she has repeatedly held concerts throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. She was a member of the Grammy Award winning University Musical Society Choral Union from 2011-2015, under the tenure of Jerry Blackstone.
Lauren Adja Park has served as Assistant Conductor at University of Michigan Arts Chorale in Ann Arbor, Michigan (September 2014-April 2015); Assistant Conductor at RIT Philharmonia in Rochester, New York (January 2015-May 2017); Graduate Assistant Conductor at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York (July 2015-May 2017); Music Director at Eastman Opera Collective in Rochester, New York (2015-2017); Assistant Conductor at University of Buffalo Symphony Orchestra in Buffalo, New York (September 2016-May 2017); Director of Community Concerts at Singing City Choir in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (January-May 2018); Music Teacher of Ensembles at The Knox School in Saint James, New York (August 2018-August 2019); Chair, Visual and Performing Arts at Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut (August 2020-June 2021); Music Director at Taylorsville- Salt Lake Community College Symphony Orchestra (since December 2022).
Lauren Adja Park married Oswaldo Machado on July 1, 2020, and currently lives Salt Lake City, Utah. |
