The Korean tenor, Jonghyun Park obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from the Seoul National University (2018). He has been awarded prizes in the Napa National Music Competition, Classical Music Magazine Competition, Herald Music Competition, The Korean Voice Competition and Daegu Voice Competition. He is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree (2022) at Yale University with a full scholarship award under the guidance of Richard Cross and Doris Yarick-Cross.
In previous seasons, Jonghyun Park preformed the role of Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Seoul National University Theater. As scene work, Duca di Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Kim & Lee Opera Company, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Seoul National University Theater. In recent performances he performed the role of Ruggero in Puccini’s La Rondine and Tebaldo in Bellini’s I Caputeti e Montecchi with Yale Opera.
As a concert soloist, Jonghyun Park made his Seoul Art Center debut as a tenor soloist performing with Nation’s Forces Symphony Orchestra. He also collaborated with Santa Cecilia Chamber Orchestra in their performance in Korea. Other recent performances include George Frideric Handel’s Messiah with Brandford Messiah and L.v. Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with Yale Philharmonia.
For upcoming performances, Jonghyun Park will sing the role of Luigi in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with Yale Opera, Tenor solo in Mozart’s Requiem with Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, and Tenor solo in L.v. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Yale Symphony Orchestra. |
