The Scottish soprano, Helena Paish, is a chorister and composer. She was the BBC Young Chorister of the Year in 2014 at the age of 14. Then more recently she won the BBC Proms Composition competition won the BBC Proms Inspire Competition for young composers in 2019, as a result of which she was commissioned by the BBC to be one of their Seven Ages of Woman,
composed for the BBC Singers. She has written the first movement of the Seven Ages of Woman commission to mark International Women’s Day 2020. Her winning choral composition, Twilight, was performed in August 2019 at the BBC Singers' Proms concert. Her carol While Mary Slept appears in the latest volume of Multitude of Voyces: Sacred Music by Women Composers. Her Music on Christmas Morning' to a text by Anne Brontë was premiered in December 2020. In 2023, Continuum commissioned hrer to write True Light.
Helena Paish currently studies at University of Cambridge (since September 2020), where she is a member of the Trinity College Choir of Cambridge. She is also a chorister at Truro Cathedral. |
