The Irish-born Canadian tenor and choral conductor, Mitchell Pady, and raised in Toronto, Canada. He began his musical career as a boy treble with Derek Holman, then sang in Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir under Robert Cooper. He went on to study voice and composition at University of Western Ontario. He has worked with many other visionary choral conductors, including Sir David Willcocks, Helmuth Rilling, Paul Hillier, Tonu Kaljuste, and Kaspars Putnins.
As a conductor, Mitchell Pady has worked with choirs and orchestras across Canada and is in demand as a festival adjudicator and clinician. Currently, he is Artistic Director of both Oriana Women’s Choir as well as The Cellar Singers, succeeding Albert Greer who retired in May 2012; and since 2004, he has been the Choral Conductor for the acclaimed Interprovincial Music Camp. Since its inauguration in 2017, he has been the music director and conductor of Acquired Taste, the project-based amateur choir of professional instrumentalists co-ordinated by Pocket Concerts. He is guest conducting for the Elmer Iseler Singers in their current season, most recently leading the women at their Toronto Symphony Orchestra appearance in Gustav Holst's The Planets, and as conductor for the Elmer Iseler Singers series concert featuring David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion and Gabriel Fauré's Requiem. He sings professionally with the Elmer Iseler Singers under Lydia Adams, and Choir 21 with David Fallis. He has also been featured as a pops soloist under the baton of Howard Cable, and as a jazz singer across Toronto.
As a tenor singer, Mitchell Pady sings professionally with choral ensembles in the Toronto area including the Elmer Iseler Singers, Amadeus Choir, Aradia Ensemble, Choir 21 and Trinity Bach Project. He has been featured as a pops soloist under the baton of Howard Cable and as a jazz singer with various ensembles across the city.
Mitchell Pady has performed and participated in many festivals and conferences including the national conductors’ conference run by the Association of Canadian Orchestras. He has acted as choral adjudicator for the Ontario Music Festivals Association, Music Fest Canada, the Toronto District School Board Music Festival and Kiwanis Music Festivals across southern Ontario. During the last six years he has worked with teachers and students as a choral clinician for a number of professional development workshops across the Toronto District School Board.
