The German soprano, Ilse-Christine Otto, she received her singing training at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, at the HdK in Berlin with Professor Figur, and in the opera class of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Professor Judith Beckmann, where she graduated with honours.
Ilse-Christine Otto has in recent years become a known concert soloist in northern Germany. With her high level of artistic performance, the style and sound of full expression of her high lyric soprano, she is a sought-after performer and has a very busy schedule both at home and abroad. Her extensive repertoire includes works from the early music and extends to the new music of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
As an ensemble member of the Theater Hagen, Ilse-Christine Otto has sung roles as Oscar (Maskenball), Blonde (Entführung) and Pamina (Zauberflöte). Guest engagements, including as Ännchen (Freischütz) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), have led her to Lübeck, Aachen, Neustrelitz, at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Opera de Massy in Paris and at the Hamburger Kammeroper, where she recently had success as Countess Almaviva (Figaro).
The special love and focus of artistic activity of Ilse Christine Otto are always concert parts by Mozart, Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn and J.S. Bach. She has performed under renowned conductors as Helmuth Rilling and Max Pommer. The NDR presented in 2001 a portrait of the soprano at a concert with Benjamin Britten's Illuminations at the Hamburg's Musikhalle under Claus Bantzer.
Ilse-Christine Otto is a lecturer for singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg and at the Hamburg Conservatory. She is also an acclaimed voice teacher. Among her pupils and/or singers who have attended her master-classes: Alice Ungerer (Soprano). |
