The Romanian baritone, Lucian Onița, studied at Liceul de Muzica Ion Vidu Timisoara (1990-1993); Facultatea de Muzica Timisoara (1996-2001); and obtained his Diploma in Singing and his Master of Music degree in Conducting from the Universitatea de Vest Timisoara (Class of 2005). He also obtained there his PhD (2011-2015).
Lucian Onița is a flexible singer who feels at home in different repertoires. He sings opera, performs as a soloist with orchestras and takes part in recitals in a smaller format. Of the works he has participated in, mention can be made of Rossini's Stabat Mater,
J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio,
George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Te Deum, Haydn's Creation, Timpani Mass and Stabat Mater,
Charles Gounod's Sollenele Mass,
W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass,
L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No.9 and
Johannes Brahms' German Requiem. He has sung with the Filarmonica Banatul Timisoara (since September 1990); has been director of the choir "Ion Vidu" at Casa de Cultura a Municipiului Lugoj (since 2013); and has been Choir Singer Guest of Edvard Grieg Kor in Bergen (since March 2014).
Lucian Onița has also appeared in several operas, including W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni, Verdi's Il Trovatore and Puccini's La Bohème. He was soloist of Opera Națională Română din Timișoara, where he sang Leporello in ,
W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Zuniga in
Georges Bizet's Carmen, Schaunard in La Bohème.
Lucian Onița taught at the Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara, Facultatea de Muzica (October 2008-June 2012); and has been Associate Professor Dr. at CNA "Ion Vidu" Timisoara (since September 2010), teaching singing and orchestral conducting. Hae married Maria Onita on July 20, 2003 and currently lives in Timisoara, Romania. |
