The Japanese tenor, Yutaka Oikawa (Japanese: 及川 豊), graduated from Iwate University Faculty of Education (1990-1994), and went onto further studies at Department of Vocal music,Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (1994-1998). He studied vocal music under Masatoshi Sasaki and Kanichi Suzuki.
Yutaka Oikawa has given many performances as a soloist in works such as Heinrich Schütz' Weihnachtshistorie, J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) and h-moll Messe (BWV 232), W.A. Mozart's Requiem, along with J.S. Bach's Cantatas and various religious pieces of H. Schütz, Charpentier, George Frideric Handel, and W.A. Mozart.
Yutaka Oikawa also participates as a member of medieval-renaissance vocal ensemble 'Vocal Ensemble Cappella', and 'Contraponto' ensemble for early music, where not many groups of such specialities exist in Japan.
Yutaka Oikawa is a lecturer at St. Gregorian House (聖グレゴリオの家) since 2009. |
