The French soprano, Sophie Norton, began her music and drama studies at the Conservatoire National de Région de Montpellier, and then, after her gold medal in singing, she continued her course at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where she received two awards: one in singing (option Opera) and the other in musical comic-operetta. She is a winner of numerous international competitions.
Sophie Norton has been performing intermittently for a few years before going into teaching. Arriving in 1992 to Lorraine, she is Technique Consultant for the European Institute for Choral Singing for 10 years and lecturer at the Centre d’Art Polyphonique de Champagne Ardenne. Holder of the State Diploma, she directs the ensemble Voix Plurielles since 1999, while continuing to appear in concerts. She is a professor of choral music at the the Ecole Nationale de Musique and head of the department of development practices for collective singing. |
