The Swiss soprano, Sylvia Nopper, who lives in the Basel region, began her musical training with Eurhythmics at the Musikhochschule Trossingen, Germany, and completed her singing education at the Musikakademie Basel.
It was in Basel that Sylvia Nopper was first inspired to fully delve into contemporary music. Today she works together with many composers and conductors such as Heinz Holliger, Jürg Wyttenbach, Peter Hirsch or Pierre Boulez. She has very quickly become a much sought after singer in the New Music scene. Many of the 120 works she has premiered were written especially for her.
Sylvia Nopper has participated in festivals all over the world together with noted orchestras and ensembles, such as her own ensembles æquatuor and ‘theBEAM’, and others like Phoenix Basel, Collegium Novum Zürich, Contrechamps Genève, Swiss Chamber Soloists, Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Klangforum Wien and Intercontemporain Paris. Besides contemporary music she has a special love for all kinds of Lieder, chansons, songs or madrigals from 1009 to 2009. |
