Shin-Yeong Noh (Soprano)

Born: March 11, ____ - Seoul, South Korea

The Korean soprano, Shin-Yeong, studied at Seoul Arts High School in Seoul, South Korea (2002-2005). She obtained her Bachelor of Music (2008-2010) and Master of Music degrees in Voice Performance (2010-2012) from the Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, studying under Teresa Kubiak. Since 2013, she is pursuing doctoral degree at Indiana University under the tutelage of Patricia Stiles. In November 2010, she was one of two first prize winners in the fourth annual “Just Love to Sing” Opera Competition in New Hampshire, also known as New Hampshire Opera Idol Competition. In the final performance, she sang Caro Nome from Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi. She also won the Tribute Award from the National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Competition in 2010, and second prize at the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition in 2014. She was finalist in the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera 26th Annual International Vocal Competition (February 2015).

Her opera credits include the role of Dew Fairy in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel (her debiut at Indiana University Opera Theater, Bloomington, Indiana, November 2013), Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea with New York Lyric Opera, Nannetta in Falstaff with the Bay View Summer Festival in Petoskey, Michigan (summer 2013), and Nella in Gianni Schicchi with the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute (BASOTI) in San Francisco, California. She has also sung major roles of Jamie and 2010 News Caster in Intoxication: America’s Love Affair with Oil by C. Kingsland with New Voices Opera in Bloomington, Indiana. She sang Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Franco-American Vocal Academy (FAVA) in Salzburg, Austria (2014) and at the Indiana University Opera Theater (In April 2015). She has also appeared in several opera scenes, including Adele in Die Fledermaus, Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, Zerbinetta and Naiade in Ariadne auf Naxos, Olympia in The Tales of Hoffman, Madame Herz in W.A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Violetta in La Traviata, Frasquita in Georges Bizet's Carmen, and Cunegonde in Candide, among others. She currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana, USA.
