The Belgian soprano, Kristien Nijs, started her singing studies at the age of 16 at the Hagelandse Academie voor Muziek en Woord. She eventually continued these studies at LUCA-School of Arts campus Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. Here she obtained her Master of Music degree in singing in 2015 with distinction with Greetje Anthoni and Marina Smolders (2009-2015). She continued her studies there for specific teacher training (2015-2016).
Kristien Nijs' passion lies mainly with the early music she discovered in the Atelier Oude Muziek with Erik Van Nevel. She is a singer in Ensemble BachPlus (Director: Bart Naessens; since 2015) and the ensemble Psallentes (Director: Hendrik van den Abeele; since 2010). In addition, she has already participated in various projects with La Petite Bande (Director: Sigiswald Kuijken).
Kristien Nijs teaches at GAMW in Geel (since September 2016) and the Academie voor Muziek en Woord in Mol (since September 2016), and Heilig Graf Turnhout (since February 2018). She currently lives in Diest, Belgium. |
