The Danish mezzo-soprano, Jasia Julia Nielsen, studied stage and concert singing at Musikhochschule Lübeck, where she sang roles like Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte, Zita in Gianni Schicchi and Dido in Dido and Aeneas and alto in Four Note Opera for Junge Oper Lübeck. She has participated in a number of master-classes, including with Vera Rosza, Felicity Lott, Graham Johnson and Raul Gimenez.
Jasia Julia Nielsen has sung Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin for the Oxford City Opera, 2nd Dame and Knabe in the W.A. Mozart's Der Zauberflöte for Opera del Mar (London), participated in Knife of Holmboe for the Chamber Opera, Armando di Gondì in Donizetti's Maria di Rohan for Bel Canto Selskabet. She sang Abenameth in a modern first performance of Balducci's Boabdil Re di Granata for the Rossini in Wildbad Festival and in Århus Summer Opera's setting of Le Nozze di Figaro, she sang the role of Cherubino. In 2013, she was with the Kongelige Teater/ GuidOpera on tour as Mercedes in Georges Bizet's Carmen. She is also an active Lieder and concert singer and has been a soloist, among others, in George Frideric Handel's Messiah, J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Requiems by W.A. Mozart's, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé and Haydn's Stabat Mater with Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Oxford.
As a Lieder singer, she has sung concerts at the Oxford Lieder Festival, Chelsea Schubert Festival and Bel Canto Festival Rossini in Wildbad. She has performed at the foyer concert at Malmö Opera and the Austrian Cultural Institute in connection with the CD release of "Engel Lund's book of folk songs" for Nimbus Records. She currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark and is also a member of Copenhagen Soloists (Director: Jonathan Ofir). |
