Nederlands Balletorkest (Symphony Orchestra)

Founded: Holland

The Nederlands Balletorkest (Netherlands Ballet Orchestra) was a Dutch symphony orchestra. The orchestra was the regular partner of the National Ballet. As of January 1, 2002, the orchestra merged with the Noordhollands Philharmonisch Orkest (North Holland Philharmonic Orchestra) to the new orchestra Holland that over their duties. Chief conductor of the Nederlands Balletorkest have included Jan Stulen (1970-1976 (?)), Lucas Vis (1976-1979), Roelof van Driesten (until 1995, left due to illness (hearing loss)t) and Thierry Fischer (from 1997) . The home of the Nederlands Balletorkest was the Muziektheater in Amsterdam.
