New World Ensemble (Instrumental Ensemble) |
Founded: England |
The New World Ensemble (= NWE) is an orchestra established by musicians at the forefront of their profession - an exciting and versatile orchestra whose repertoire spans over four centuries.
The New World Ensemble is quickly establishing an enviable reputation as one of the most versatile orchestras in the UK. This select group of musicians, many of whom are soloists in their own right, combine contemporary flair and virtuosity with a warmth of expression more usually associated with a gentler age.
They are just as comfortable with the Baroque and Classical repertoire as they are with the modern and have a developed a portfolio of contemporary music some of which can be heard on their eagerly awaited first CD, 'Face to Face' released in in Summer 2006.
NWE is dedicated to developing audiences in rural communities and this is reflected by involving school children in their productions as much as possible. This may be something as simple as arranging a “rehearsal visit” or something more complicated like co-ordinating an artwork exhibition based around the theme or piece in a concert. A new and exciting initiative for them is 'Music Quest' - the taking of specially formulated projects and music workshops into schools. |
