The Austrian baritone, Bartolo Musil, has been working as a musician from his early childhood. He studied at the Universities of Vienna, Salzburg and Detmold Composition and Voice with teachers such as Walter Berry and Thomas Quasthoff.
As a concert and opera singer - with a repertoire from early baroque up to contemporary experimental opera - Bartolo Musil has sung important parts in the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, at the Antikenfestspiele Trier (as Monteverdi's Orfeo), the Berlin Festival, the Berlin Philharmonie (Messiah and The Creation), the Holland Belcanto Festival, the Festival of Early Music in Innsbruck, the festival Carinthischer Sommer, the Stephaniensaal Graz, the Cathedrals of Berlin and Vienna, the Vienna Kammeroper, and many others. At these occasions he worked with the Wiener Klangforum, the Ensemble Kontrapunkte, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the SWR-Orchester, the Orpheus Kammerorchester, and directors like Pet Halmen and Achim Freyer. Song recitals, radio and CD productions complete his activities.
Bartolo Musil received numerous awards and grants, such as the 2nd Grand Prize and the Fauré Prize at the International Competition of Toulouse. |
