The German church musician and theologian, Michael Graf Münster, was born in Köln (Cologne), and grew up in Stuttgart, where he was influenced by Helmuth Rilling's Bach-Collegium Stuttgart. He studied theology and church music in Tübingen and Munich, with Sergiu Celibidache, among others.
Michael Graf Münster taught at the Evangelischen Stift Tübingen and was a lecturer at the Evangelisch-theologischen Fakultät der Universität Tübingen. Then, from 1992 to 1997, he was pastor in Reutlingen. In 1997, at the age of 39, he was appointed Landeskirchenmusikdirektor (Country Church Music Director) of the Evangelischen Kirche in Hesse and and Nassau. Since 1998, he also served as Kantor at St. Catherine's in Frankfurt. After thirteen years he left the post of Landeskirchenmusikdirektor. From October 2010, he provides the Kantorat at St. Katharinen a full-time position. |
