The German bass-baritone, Clemens Morgenthaler, studied organ, church music and chant (Christoph Schwartz, Markus Goritzki) at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. He then took up further studies at the Musikhochschule Basel, Switzerland with Kurt Widmer and Gérard Wyss (Lied) and finished with the Konzertdiplom (highest honours). He took part in various master-classes with Ana Luisa Chova, Andreas Schmidt, Kurt Widmer, Richard Wistreich and Rudolf Piernay. In 2000 he won the price of the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung, Bayreuth.
Clemens Morgenthaler has performed in several opera productions in Germany and Italy, among them Così fan Tutte and Le Nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart, Damon by Georg Philipp Telemann), Pilger von Mekka by Gluck), Amahl and the night visitors by Menotti and Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein.
