The Swiss-born bass-baritone, Samuel Moreno Martinez, grew up in Malaga, Spain, where he started his musical studies as a flutist, a harpist and a lyric singer from an early age. He then graduated and got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Baroque singing within the Ancient Music Department of the Haute École de Musique de Genèva (HEM) and a Master degree of Vocal Pedagogy in the same University (2012-2020). He was taught by many musiciens, such as
Leonardo García-Alarcón,
Luca Pianca, Maria Cristina Kiehr,
Rosa Domínguez, Fabian Schoffrin and
Stephan MacLeod.
As a singer, Samuel Moreno performed a wide repertoire of oratorios, such as Stabat Mater by
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Antonio Vivaldi, Gloria by
A. Vivaldi, St Matthew’s Passion (BWV 244) and Magnificat (BWV 243) by
J.S. Bach. He also performed as Giulio Cesare in Giulio Cesare in Eggitto by
George Frideric Handel, as Giasone in Il Giasone by F. Cavalli, as Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea by C. Monteverdi, as Apollo in Apollo and Hyacinthus by
W.A. Mozart, as San Francisco Javier in San Ignacio de Loyola by D. Zipoli among others.
Samuel Moreno has been a soloist under Gabriel Garrido, Jordi Casas and Michael Thomas's instructions, accompanied in his performances by the Philarmonic Orchestra of Malaga, the Young Baroque Andalusian Orchestra as well as by the Elyma Ensemble, appearing on stages such as the Lausanne Opera, Florence Cathedrale, Geneva Victoria Hall, International City of Arts in Paris, Malaga Cervantes Theater, Concert Hall Manuel de Falla in Grenade, Cadix Villa Marta Theater, Marbella Theater and both Geneva and Malaga's Cathedrals.
Samuel Moreno has won the first prize in different competitions such as The Best Interpretation Performance organised by the Malaga Philarmonic Orchestra and The Young Singers of Marbella. He has also taken part in the IV Festival of Ancient Music in Malaga, the XVI Bach Festival in Lausanne, the XVIII edition of O Flos Colende in Florence and the XVIII Festival of Contemporary Music in Malaga.
Samuel Moreno currently perfects his musical career studying a Master of Arts in Musica Interpreation at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve. |
