The Turkish tenor and voice teacher, Laçin Modiri, began his musical studies at the age of 9 with piano and continued his professional musical education on piano at Fine arts high school in Izmir where he also studied Violoncello and Classical Guitar. In 2006 started studying voice with Kevork Tavityan and gained his Bachelor of Arts degree in both Voice and Music Pedagogy majors from Marmara University in Istanbul (2002-2006). After graduation he went to Amsterdam to study with David Wilson-Johnson at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (2007-2010). During his education, additionally he worked with tenors such as Hein Meens, Alexander Oliver and Dennis O’Neill and coached by repetitors such as Antoine Palloc, Peter Lockwood, David Bollen, Dido Keuning, Paolo Villa Matteo; joined to master-classes of David Wilson-Johnson, Willem Brons, D.O. Norris and Mirella Freni.
Laçin Modiri made his operatic debut at 2009 with Dutch National Opera (DNO) in Amsterdam and with NPU at Utrecht Verdenburg as the concert soloist singing Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella. He has sung and gave master-classes at Den Haag Festival Classique, Youth & Muse festival, Apple Hill and Point Counter Point at USA, Cervo & ClassiCastello at Italy, Istanbul Pera International Music Festival and ChiChibu International music festival at Japan. His repertoire is mostly concentrated on romantic Italian and French works by G. Donizetti, G. Verdi, G. Puccini, Charles Gounod, Massenet, Berlioz. Also oratorios from George Frideric Handel to W.A. Mozart, Dvorak to I. Stravinsky and modern composers such as B. Güneş which he made the world premiere of his ortatorio… Beside of his operatic and classical concerts, he strongly believes in traditional music and performes with famous orchestras such as Kazakh orchestra ‘Sazgen Sazy’ and Turkish folk orhcestras. In addition to his solo concerts, giving chamber music concerts as piano duo, with string quartets and mostly ViolAria which formed by his Violist wife Beste TIKNAZ. He was a member of Groot Omroepkoor (2008-2009) and of the Nationale Opera & Ballet (2009-2010)
Live concerts at Radio RTV N-H in Holland and TRT Tv & Radio, Concerts at halls such as Utrecht Vredenburg, Concertgebouw & Dutch National Opera DNO in Amsterdam, Anton Philipszaal in Den Haag, Onga ku do in Japan, Atheneum in Bucharesht, AKM, CRR, and Lütfi Kırdar in Istanbul and worked with conductors such, as Jaap van Zweden, Hartmut Haenchen and Carlo Rizzi.
As a full time educator Laçin Modiri is giving master-classes and teaching at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Conservatory as a voice professor since 2011; and in 2015 tought at Wales International Academy of Voice as a guest faculty (January-May 2015). He still teaches at ITU Conservatory and continues his solo concerts in all over the world… |
