Ewa Michalak (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Poland

The Polish-born mezzo-soprano, Ewa Michalak (neé: Ewa Dąbrowska), studied with Antonina Waskiewicz and Magdalena Halfter and graduated with honors in 1965 from the Academy of Music in Warsaw. She won the International Vocal Competition in Hertogenbosch, Holland.

Ewa Michalak has been acclaimed throughout Europe for her sensitive musical interpretations. She has performed in many radio and television programs in Poland, Hungary and Holland. Since coming to the USA at the end of 1965, she has sung in the Philadelphia area. She was married to the Polish violinist and conductor Thomas Michalak (1941-1986). In 1969, they joined the Ithaca College School of Music faculty.
