The American baritone, John V. Meyer, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from University of Kansas (2011-2015); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2015-2017), where he studied with Robert Swensen. In 2016, he received the Friends of Eastman Opera Student Opportunity Award. He also attended master-classes of Renée Fleming, Mira Zakai and Phyllis Pancella. He was Seagle Music Colony Guild Scholar (2018) and Lisa Reid Emerging Artist (2019).
John Meyer has been Chorister at Lyric Opera Of Kansas City since July 2017. His opera roles have included: The Count in W.A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (Seagle Music Colony, 2019); General Tracy in The Manchurian Candidate (SMC, 2019); Demetrius in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream (KU Opera); Caesar in George Frideric Handel's Julius Caesar (SMC, July 2018); Dwight Babcock in Mame (SMC, August 2018); Pandolfe in Cendrillon (Eastman Opera Theater, 2017), Figaro in W.A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (EOT, 2017); Papageno in W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute (ViVAce Summer Opera Workshop, 2016); Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte (Portland Summer Opera Workshop, 2016). He was also bass soloist in J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 82 (Eastman Oboe Concert, 2017); Eastman School of Music: Bach Cantata Series (BWV 56, November 2016); Gabriel Fauré's Requiem (2013). |
