The American mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth Merrill, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with honors from the Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts (2005-2009); and her Master of Music degrees in both Vocal Performance and Early Music Voice Performance (2009-2011), as well as a Graduate Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (2011-2012).
Elizabeth Merrill has been active as is a self-employed mezzo-soprano vocalist since September 2009. Praised for her “vibrant presence” in The Baltimore Sun, she is known for her incredible range and versatility across genres. Recent solo performances include Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Dalton Chorale and John Corigliano’s Fern Hill with the New Jersey Chamber Singers. Recent recording projects include Dana Lyn’s A Point on a Slow Curve (2022, In A Circle) and Robert Kyr: In Praise of Music with the Antioch Chamber Ensemble (2021, Bridge Records). She has also performed as a soloist with American Opera Theater, The Amherst Early Music Festival, Bach in Baltimore (October 2013), Annapolis Chorale, Downtown Voices, Ensemble Musica Humana, Intermezzo: The New England Chamber Opera Series, the Mid-Manhattan Performing Arts Foundation, Musica Nuova, Summit Chorale, and Union Avenue Opera.
Elizabeth Merrill was Alto Section Leader at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in New York City (August 2013-August 2018). She sing as one of two altos in the nine-member professional Choir of St. Luke in the Fields in weekly Sunday services, special services and the annual concert series, frequently as a soloist.
