The Ukrainian counter-tenor/tenor, Roman Melish, received already as a child violin lessons. In addition to his studies in choral conducting at the National Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine in Kiev, which he completed with distinction (2008-2013), he worked as a chorister in the State Philharmonic Ternopil (December 2007-August 2008) and at the National Academic Operetta Theater in Kiev (September 2011-July 2013). He obtained his Master of Performing Arts from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland (2013; 2016-2018).
As a member of various choirs and ensembles, Roman Melish has appeared at festivals such as Oude Muziek Utrecht and in projects such as the Musikhochschule Stuttgart (Robert Schumann's Frauenliebe, 2014) and La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble Basel (Director: Andrea Marcon) (Antonio Caldara, 2014, Medée, 2015). He is a member of Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci). He currently lives in Basel, Switzerland. |
