Henrike Mayer (Soprano)

Born: Karlsruhe, Germany

The German soprano, Henrike Mayer, first studied school music in Nuremberg. She received her solo singing training in Erlangen with Rose Marie Cabaud, continue with Shoko Shimizu in Detmold and Michael Heptner in Bielefeld. She sang as choir member in the radio choirs of RIAS-Kammerchor, BR-Chor and NDR-Chor together with renowned conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christoph Eschenbach, Herbert Blomstedt, René Jacobs and others.

From 1999 to 2002 Henrike Mayer was engaged at the Landestheater Detmold. She has specilaised in opera roles of the high, light lyric coloratura. At the Mozart Festival in Würzburg, she sang Papagena. In 2003 she embodied the female role in the German premiere of Peter Maxwell Davies' Mr. Emmet takes a walkin in Hannover and sang at the Beethoven Festival in Krakow. In 2004 she performed in the premiere of Lars Graugaard's La Quintrala at the Denandenopera in Copenhagen.

Her oratorio repertoire includes popular parts from the Baroque and Classical; in the field of new music she was heard in works by the contemporary composers Wolfgang Rihm and Heinrich Hartl.
