The German tenor, Dennis Marr, began his musical training in the im Knabenchor Collegium Iuvenum Stuttgart. He completed his diploma studies as a singer and singing teacher at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart with Professor Bernhard Jaeger-Böhm in the summer of 2011 with top marks. From 2011 to 2014 he studied in the Master’s course at the Opernschule Stuttgart in the singing class of Sylvia Koncza. There he was a soloist in various opera productions such as Verdi's Falstaff, Puccini's La Bohème or Paul Hindemith's opera Neues vom Tage. He also received musical impulses through his participation in the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius). By taking part in master-classes with, among others, Enrico Facini, Peter Berne, Silvano Zabeo, The King's Singers, Calmus Ensemble Leipzig and others, as well as working with outstanding répétiteurs and pianists such as Eberhard Leuser, Thomas Seyboldt and Götz Payer, he complemented his musical education.
In 2014 Dennis Marr was engaged as a soloist in Baden-Baden at the Osterfestpielen der Berliner Philharmoniker. There he sang Billy in Kurt Weill's Mahagonny-Songspiel and as a soloist in Paul Hindemith's Lehrstück. From 2014 to 2016, he was a permanent ensemble member at the Theater Vorpommern, where he made his debut as Max in Der Freischütz. Other main roles followed such as Symon in Der Bettelstudent, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Cosí fan tutte, Tassilo in Gräfin Mariza and Don José in Georges Bizet's Carmen. From 2017 to 2019, he was a permanent ensemble member at the Stadttheater Pforzheim, where he played Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Symon in Der Bettelstudent, Lotterie-Agent in Der Silbersee, Mime in Das Rheingold, Nadir in G. Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles, Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore, Truffaldino in in The love of the three oranges and other roles of his voice.
In addition to his extensive work at the theater and as a concert singer, Dennis Marr has been a vocal teacher for several years. From 2017-2020 at the Musikschule in Münsingen and since September 2019 and from January 2020 he has been working as a singing lecturer at the Musikschule in Nürtingen and the Musikschule in Köngen/Wendlingen.
Concert tours have taken Dennis Marr to numerous cities at home and abroad. He has also sung as a soloist in large concert halls, for example in the Stuttgart Liederhalle, Kieler Schloss or in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. |
