Vocaal Ensemble MUSA (Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: 2005 - Amsterdam, the Netheraland

Vocaal Ensemble MUSA was founded in 2005 and consists of ambitious amateur singers who would like to enter into new musical challenges. In order to realize MUSA provides an environment in which is made at a high level of music. Quality, intensity and enthusiasm are key. The artistic director of MUSA in the hands of founder Peter Dijkstra.

MUSA brings with varied programs highlights performed the choral literature. This is interspersed with projects in which can be heard rarely performed compositions or even a premiere, as the compositions that were written specifically for MUSA by Jeppe Moulijn, Joost Kleppe and Ed de Boer.

The choir has a solid core of singers and is made for each project, depending on the programming. MUSA works with two fixed repeaters Béni Csillag and Benjamin Baker. In varied programs MUSA brings highlights performed the choral literature.

MUSA regularly works with professional musicians and orchestras. So was worked among others in recent years, with singers of the Nederlands Kamerkoor, with Lucia Swarts (cello) and Leo van Doeselaar (organ) of De Nederlandse Bachvereniging. MUSA also collaborated with percussion students from the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatoire), the UvA-Orkest J.Pzn Sweelinck and the Symfonieorkest van het Prins Claus Conservatorium.

In December 2012 was MUSA NEOS Brass and organist Berry van Berkum could be heard live on the radio during the annual Christmas concert organized by Radio 4 for its listeners. Also in 2013 MUSA performed as part in the Christmas concert of Radio 4. In 2015, MUSA performed J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
