The Colombian American lyric tenor, Jeremy Luis Lopez, earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (August 2016-May 2020), where he also received the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Certificate from the Institute for Music Leadership, as well as a minor in Italian. He is a proud recipient of the Anne T. Cummins Voice Scholarship for his excellent academic and musical standing, and is a current student of Ruth Hennessy.
As a student at the Eastman School of Music, Jeremy Luis Lopez had numerous opportunities to hone his craft as a singer. On stage with Eastman Opera Theatre, he performed the roles of Le petit vieillard and La rainette in L’enfant et les sortilèges, and covered the role of Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd. He has also had success in the concert repertoire, having performed as a soloist in a Eastman School of Music: Bach Cantata Series (BWV 48) and in WXXI Classical 95.1’s Holiday Concert. He regularly performs as tenor soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah. While working toward his Bachelor’s degree, he spent two months in 2019 as a studio artist at Opera in the Ozarks where he performed the role of Pedrito in an outreach production of Robert Xavier Rodríguez’ children’s opera Monkey See, Monkey Do, which brought a children’s education program to local libraries and schools.
In August 2022, Jeremy Luis Lopez made his Mexican debut with the Bel Canto Institute of San Miguel de Allende in their annual Concert of Arias. On the operatic stage, he has recently been seen performing roles and scenes such as Nemorino in (L’elisir d’amore), Mr. Plume W.A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor (January-February 2020), and Alfred in Die Fledermaus. He was semifinalist in the 2022 Premier Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition. His rising success as a young artist has driven him to become the sensitive performer he is today.
Outside of performing, Jeremy Luis Lopez is passionate about arts administration and contributing to performance organizations from many angles. After receiving the Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, he accepted a position working at the Juilliard School in Lincoln Center, where he continues to grow in his role with the Vocal Arts department (since August 2021). He has also previously held administrative positions with the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the ESM Office of Communications. |
