The American soprano and voice teacher, Maggie Lieberman, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Oregon (2003-2008), where she studied with Ruth Dobson. Upon commencement she was honored with the Exine Bailey Award and the Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Performer. She obtained her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (2009-2011), which she attended under the Mildred H. Kellogg scholarship.
Maggie Lieberman is an emerging artist complimented for her ‘beautiful bright soprano’ and ‘silvery tone’. She has sung in recitals and operas across the country and across the world, as well as spreading her love of music through local outreach performances. Her most recent outreach collaboration was with the Manassas Symphony and the Osbourn High School Choirs, performing as the guest soloist for John Rutter's Magnificat at the Hylton Performing Arts Center (April 2017). In May 2014, she had the honor of singing The National Anthem for the Virginia Gold Cup races.
Maggie Lieberman enjoyed her Canadian debut last spring in Toronto, where she sang the role of Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with the Toronto Summer Opera Workshop. Her 2012 European debut was with the Tuscia Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy. Here she sang the role of Adina in a concert of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore along side a cast of fellow American emerging artists as well as renowned Italian opera professionals. In 2011, she performed the role of Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro with the Astoria Music Festival Apprentice Program under the baton of Olivia Tsui and direction of Noel Koran with musical direction from Keith Clark. While in Astoria, she coached the role with world renowned soprano, Ruth Ann Swenson as well as San Francisco Opera and Wiener Staatsoper coach Paul Harris.
Notable credits from Maggie Lieberman’s time at NEC include Cunégunde in Leonard Bernstein's Candide conducted by Stephen Lord, Princess Fé-An-Nich-Ton in Offenbach’s Parisienne comedy Ba-Ta-Clan conducted by Canadian maestro John Greer, and Pamina in the conservatory’s abridged outreach production of W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute. She currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut where she was Voice Teacher at Neighborhood Music School (2014-2019), and at ACES Educational Center for the Arts. She continues to perform there, as well as offer private voice lessons. |
