The French conter-tenor, Bruno Le Levreur, was born in Vannes, but his family moved to Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, then to Angers after the kindergarten. He sang in lthe Maîtrise de la Cathédrale d’Angers from the age of 8 to 20, participating in recordings, concerts and masses. For for a single moment he had no doubts the destiny that awaits him. He never did music theory, it was sight reading. He was not a soloist either, and in his last years with the Maîtrise de la Cathédrale d'Angers, from the moment his voice was turned and derailed, he was no longer there to handle the younger ones than anything else. But for more than ten years, he learned his job without knowing it. He discovered his counter-tenor voice as an adult at age of 20, on the inspiration of his singing teacher. In September 1997, he enrolled at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, where he continued for 3 years his singing studies.
Since 2000, Bruno Le Levreur works as a soloist with among others, Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie & Paul Agnew), A Sei Voci (Director: B. Fabre-Garrus), Sagittarius (Director: Michel Laplénie), La Fenice (Director: Jean Tubéry). Since 2003, he is a member of the ensemble Le Poème Harmonique (Director: Vincent Dumestre), is with whom he performs in France and around the world. He sings J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, H. Purcell, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Antonio Vivaldi. He currently lives in Nantes, France.
In addition to his traditional job, Bruno Le Levreur likes to go to meeting of the youngest and created in 2013 with the storyteller Laurent Carudel a family show, Cactus, mixing Baroque music and storytelling. Cactus is appearing for two years everywhere in France and abroad. |
