The Korean bass-baritone, Seoyong Lee (Korean: 이서용), received his Bachelor of Music degree with distinction in Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2021) under Dr. Jonathan Retzlaff. He is pursuing his Master of Voice and Opera study at Northwestern University, Bienen School of Music under the guidance of W. Stephen Smith. He is the recipient of the Eckstein award with full scholarship in Northwestern University and he was the finalist for the 2021 Kneisel Lieder competition.
Opera role Seoyong Lee performed includes Colline from Puccini's La Bohème with the Northwestern Opera Theatre (May 2022); Death from Der Kaiser von Atlantis by Viktor Ullmann, Puppet Master from Postcard from Morocco by Dominick Argento (February 2021), Jimmy from Mahagonny Songspiel by Kurt Weil with Eastman Opera Theatre; Grandpa Moss from The Tender Land by Aaron Copland, Ariodate from Serse by George Frideric Handel with Chicago Summer Opera (Summer 2022).
