The American mezzo-soprano, Carolena Belle Lara, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Opera and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian Language and Literature, both from University of Oklahoma (2011-2016). During her studies at University of Oklahoma, she was Choral Intern at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church (September 2011-March 2015: Soloist, section leader, administrative assistance); Stage Directing Intern at Druid City Opera Workshop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (May-June 2015); Cantor at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church (March 2015-May 2016: Cantor, choir member, section leader, administrative assistance).
Carolena Belle Lara obtained her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performanve & Liteature from Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, in the studio of Kathryn Cowdrick (2016-2022). She has been in Applied Voice Faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (August 2019-May 2021); Graduate Voice Department Assistant at Eastman School of Music (August 2018-May 2021); Assistant Stage Manager at Eastman School of Music (2016-May 2021); Resident Chorister at Houston Grand Opera (since May 2022); Voice teacher at Kingwood Music School (since October 2022). She currently lives in Houston, Texas. |
