The Spanish singer, Eteri Lamoris, who was born in Kiev comes from a family of a great musical background. Her grandfather - an owner of an Opera theater of Georgia was executed per Stalin's order as a representative of aristocracy in 1937. She made her first musical studies in Tbilisi, Georgia with Lamara Cicognia, a famous opera singer in formed USSR. She started first her career at the Bolshoi in Moscow and continued her studies in the Academy of Music in Madrid and in Vienna with Renata Scotto. Among her teachers were Renata Scotto, Ruthilda Boesch and Dolores Ripolles (a pupil of Elvira Hidalgo).
Even at the beginning of her carrier Eteri Lamoris sang in various festivals and theaters such as the Verdi Opera Festivals in Italy, in The Bolshoi Theater, Festival of Tours in France, Haydn Festival in Austria, Koblenz Festival in Germany, "Menton Festival" in France. At the age of 23 she was acclaimed as "one of ten best voices in the world" in the Operalia World Opera Contest (1994) where she also earned special award: "Public Prize" of Vienna together with tenor José Cura. Eteri Lamoris was awarded at nine international competitions. Seven of them were First Prizes, one of which the Plácido Domingo International Competition in 1994. The same year she made a tour around theworld with recitals and operas with Plácido Domingo as partner and with regard to operas under the stage direction of Franco Zeffirelli. Later she signed a two-year contract with the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao where she often performed with Marco Armiliato, Luis Lima, Denis Graves, Vicente Sardinero and later Eteri Lamoris has associated with Graz Opera.
Eteri Lamoris performs in countries like France, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Austria, Greece with artists like Daniel Barenboim, Vladimir Spivakov, Barbara Hendricks, Yuri Bashmet, etc. She sang in the principal opera theaters of Barcelona, Madrid, Naples (La Boheme produced by F. Zeffirelli), Turin, Nice, Vienna, Stockholm, Düsseldorf (Lucia di Lammermoor, produced by Christof Loy), Bonn (Romeo et Juliette produced by Giancarlo del Monaco), Nantes, Sevilla (La Scala production), Palm Beach, Bern, Venice, Trieste (Les Contes d'Hoffmann, conducted by D. Oren), at the Washington Opera (I Puritani and Pagliacci, at the La Scala production of Franco Zeffirelli, with Plácido Domingo), in Pittsburgh, Mexico, Hannover (Haydn, L'Incontro Improvviso, under direction of Adam Fisher), Rotterdam, Mannheim, Paris (with Charles Dutoit), Prague (concert with Virtuosi di Praga chamber orchestra), Rio de Janeiro (La Traviata, produced by Sonia Frisell and Giani Quaranta), Tours (concerts with "Moscow Soloists Orchestra" under Mstislav Rastropovish patronage), Oslo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Parma and many others. She has appeared at Teatro La Zarzuela in Madrid, at the Barcelona Liceo, at the Los Angeles Opera and in the famous State Opera in Vienna. She has also sung in several concerts notably at the Royal Opera in Madrid and other famous halls in Spain.
During 1999-2000 season Eteri Lamoris performed Traviata at the Oslo Opera, in Puritani again at the Washington Opera, in Il Turco in Italia at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, etc. In 2000-2001 saason : Haydn's Incontro Improvviso as Rezia, I Puritani as Elvira in Nantes (Fr), Rigoletto as Gilda in Palm Beach, La Bohème as Musetta and Les Contes d'Hoffmann as Olympia in Trieste. Of her latest works, worthy of mention are her performances in Naples and Rome Opera Theatres of La Boheme and I Capuleti e I Montecchi with Nello Santi, in Ravenna Turandot with London Symphony Orchestra, tour of concerts in Hong Kong and Singapore and her debut concerts in Carnegie Hall with New England Symphony orchestra.
Eteri Lamoris's operatic repertoire includes such roles as: Rosina, Adina, Linda, Euridice (Gluck), Susanna, Margueritte, Manon (Massenet), Amina, Amenaide, Violetta, Gilda, Musette, Norina, Maria, Olympia, Antonia and some Russian opera roles. A rare beauty, with an exceptional physical appearance, an astonishing gift of actress and a voice of an extraordinary quality and length. (from some Verdi like Ernani to Lucia di Lammermoor) she certainly has in front of her the career of a superstar. Spanish musical critic at large names her “The Traviata of the years 2000”.
Eteri Lamoris recorded a CD of popular opera arias with Beaux Records of Berlin. She recorded the new album of Spanish and Latin American songs and CD "The best from La Traviata" for Romeo Records of New York. Actually she finished new album "Virtuosissimo" - arias of J.S. Bach, Haydn, Georg Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi with Virtuosi di Praga on Preiser Records of Vienna.
In 2005-2006 Eteri Lamoris has a tour of La Traviata in Franco Zeffirelli production in Italy - Florence, Naples, Barry and Milan, sings Lucia di Lammermoor in France, La Boheme" in Los Angeles with Roberto Alagna Opera, Romeo et Juliette in the International Festival of Macau, tour of La Traviata in Hong Kong and China, La Traviata in Arena di Verona, recital in Oldenburg Festival and numerous concerts around the world. |
