The German mezzo-soprano, Dorothee Labusch, graduated first in German Studies, Education and Philosophy from the Westfälischen Wilhelmsuniversität Münster (1979-1985). Only after completing her university studies, she turned herself to singing, and study singing full time at the Basle Musikakademie where her teachers were Gilia Köth, Judith Beckmann and Edith Mathis (1985-1988). She also studied with Kurt Widmer (Basel) and Eugen Rabine (Frankfurt), and received Teaching Diploma, opera and concert singing diploma.
Dorothee Labusch has now a busy career as a soloist in recital and concert area (mainly in Lieder and oratorio) and she sings mainly in Germany and Switzerland, and has toured various European countries, Australia, Asia and South America. Her artistic versatility is reflected in their extremely extensive repertoire from early music through classical and romantic works and extends contemporary compositions. Her special love, however, applies to Lied and Baroque music. Appearances with major orchestras, radio and CD recordings (she is a regular performer on Radio Svizzera di lingua italiana), working in various chamber music ensembles, for example, with the Duo Caleidos and with the guitarist Elisabeth Trechslin and involvement in professional vocal ensembles (including Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen) complete the picture of her vocal activities.
Dorothee Labusch taught at the Konservatorium Winterthur and is a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Zürich and at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. She lives with her husband and their two children in Winterthur, Switzerland. |
