The Dutch counter-tenor, David van Laar, after completing a bachelor's degree in organ, went on to study the bachelor and master of singing with Hanneke de Wit at the Prins Claus Conservatorium Groningen passing both cum laude. Subsequently he also completed his Master of Music degree in Eraly Music Voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Xenia Meijer. Currently he is coached by Margreet Honig.
David van Laar has featured as a soloist with ensembles such as Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier), Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Phion, Orkest van het Oosten, Luthers Bach Ensemble (Director: Tymen Jan Bronda), Musica Amphion, Berlin Baroque, Barockorchester Le Chardon, Eik en Linde, Amsterdam Baroque Opera and The Northern Consort.
David van Leer’s recent highlights include featuring as the alto soloist for the live broadcast NPO Radio 4 Christmas concert conducted by Klaas Stok, with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Consensus Vocalis. He also appeared with Barokopera Amsterdam in France in the ‘Purcell Gala; William and Mary’ as a soloist. A live recording of a concert with Vox Luminis was broadcast on TV channel France 3, where he performed as a soloist in George Frideric Handel's Dixit Dominus.
David van Laar is a singing and ensemble teacher at the Prins Claus Conservatorium Groningen (since September 2019) and teaches the soloists of the Roden Girl Choristers (since February 2019). |
